 I tested this on my own data, on amd64.
 On NC data I cannot reproduce it, but this may be due to a lower
 resolution.

 Command line:
 r.los input=dtm at PERMANENT coordinate=1676844,4830417 obs_elev=50
 max_dist=5000
 output=los4
 Using maximum distance from the viewing point (meters): 5000.000000
 Module crashed or killed

 This both from QGIS plugin and from the console.
