 Please also have a look at the new d.thematic.area (included since 6.4),
 which responds to all of these requests (I think) and should be faster
 than d.vect.thematic.

 Obviously (cough, cough), d.thematic.lines/points still need to be written
 (I have started, but have not been able to find a free time period long
 enough for me to work on them with my limited C-skills).
