Yes, ideally it should be private, with primary comments about
each application left on the GSoC Melange site directly, and the
mentors discussing ranking amongst ourselves.

Different people have wildly different rankings, so students
reading shouldn't read too much into what they have already seen.
:-) Importantly, nothing is official or chosen until Google
formally makes its announcement!
