Hi

I am trying to compile grass 6.4.2 on Ubuntu Precise Pangolin and it fails at finding libGL.so.
Although I have the following:

krug at ecolmod:~/.../gdal/gdal-1.9.0$ locate libGL.so
/usr/lib/FGL.renamed.libGL.so.1.2
/usr/lib/libGL.so
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/FGL.renamed.libGL.so.1.2
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1.2

The last lines of config.log:

configure:11166: checking for glBegin in -lGL
configure:11183: gcc -o conftest -g -O2     -Wl,--export-dynamic conftest.c -lGL   -lSM -lICE
- -lX11  -lm -lpthread -lXext  1>&5
/usr/bin/ld: error: cannot open /usr/lib/gcc/i686-linux-gnu/4.6/../../../../lib/libGL.so: No such
file or directory
configure:11179: error: undefined reference to 'glBegin'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
configure: failed program was:
#line 11172 "configure"
#include "confdefs.h"
/* Override any gcc2 internal prototype to avoid an error. */
/* We use char because int might match the return type of a gcc2
    builtin and then its argument prototype would still apply. */
char glBegin();

int main() {
glBegin()
; return 0; }

I am wondering - should I create a symlink from libGL.so to libGL.so.1 ?

Or am I missing a package?

Thanks,

Rainer
