[GRASS-dev] WinGRASS6.4.3 crashing

did you activated to download the needed microsoft runtimes? it's on the
download tab (ms files and sample datasets) during the installation of the
standalone installer.

RC2 has no better solution, but another python version than ArcGIS. 

if you have ArcGIS 10.1, then the trouble comes in. 

ArcGIS 10.1 and WinGRASS6.4.3 have the same python version (python 2.7.x)

would be osgeo4w-winGRASS6.4.3 an alternative? this works for me having
ArcGIS 10.1 on my laptop.

...you are not alone. but there is no easy solution for this python issue, a
ticket is already opened. but IMHO it is more a general question of
operating system design made by MS than a winGRASS problem.
