[GRASS-dev] r.surf.idw in latlon region?

I see in GRASS 7 that r.surf.idw2 does not work in a latlon region. It recommends using r.surf.idw.

But r.surf.idw doesn't see to do anything either. It runs with no errors but does not produce an interpolated map.
