myrasts <- rast.get(G, rlist=c("dem", "cover"), catlabels=c(FALSE, TRUE))
                                                ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

The catlabels argument tells rast.get() whether to make the raster an R 
factor or numeric vector, using the GRASS category labels.
