Map overlay files in Hewlett Packard Graphic Language (HPGL)
format can be created using MAPGEN, a map-generating package
developed by the U.S. Geological Survey. The GRASS-MAPGEN
Interface developed by the U.S. Soil Conservation Service
is a good way to make plots from GRASS vector data.

Both MAPGEN and the Interface are distributed with GRASS 4.0
as part of src.related.
