Due to the number of people who have been mistakenly sending
unsubscribe and other "commands" to the wrong address, I am
posting instructions on how to use these lists. Please read them
if you wish to unsubscribe or send other "commands".

-----------------------------------------------------------------

                     GRASHOPPER E-MAIL FORUMS

The grass-hopper consists of 2 GRASS email discussion forums: one
for users and one for programmers. The user's forum is for
user-type questions/answers about GRASS and the programmer's
forum is for programmer-type questions/answers about GRASS. It is
a good idea to subscribe to both lists since they are not
completely distinct.

The forum names are grassp-<something> and grassu-<something> for
the programmer's and user's forums repectively.

To subscribe, send mail messages as follows:

User's Forum:
	mail grassu-request at amber.cecer.army.mil
	Subject: subscribe <your name>
	.

Programmer's Forum:
	mail grassp-request at amber.cecer.army.mil
	Subject: subscribe <your name>
	.

Note: place your real name where <your name> appears. This way
the list can tell others who you really are instead of just what
your email address is.

The -request address is what you use to subscribe. After that you
only use it to find out who is subscribed, get old messages,
etc). Once subscribed, normal communication is via mail to
grassu-list or grassp-list:

User's Forum:
	mail grassu-list at amber.cecer.army.mil
	Subject: <an appropriate subject>
	<your message>
	.

Progammer's's Forum:
	mail grassp-list at amber.cecer.army.mil
	Subject: <an appropriate subject>
	<your message>
	.

Whenever a message is sent to one of the -list addresses, you
(and everyone else subscribed) gets mailed a copy of the message.
Use the -lists to ask GRASS questions to the entire GRASS
community. You'll see questions and answers that may or may not
be relevant to you. If you see a question that you can answer,
please do so. Use some discretion. Some questions are not
answered appropriately to the list but directly to the person who
sent the message you are responding to.

To unsubscribe, send mail messages as follows:

User's Forum:
	mail grassu-request at amber.cecer.army.mil
	Subject: unsubscribe
	.

Programmer's Forum:
	mail grassp-request at amber.cecer.army.mil
	Subject: unsubscribe
	.

Enjoy.
