v.to.rast in LAT/LON

Dear users,
Does the following sound familiar?
	Performing v.to.rast on a dig-file in LAT/LON projection
	results in islands not be(some) islands not being recognised. Is this a
	problem in v.to.rast (the dig file appears to be fine)?
	If so, can it be solved or circumvented?
We temporarily solved the problem by putting islands in a separate vector
map layer, rasterizing both layers, and patching them together again. But
this becomes rather awkward if you have lots of nested islands (this was
probably why they gave up on Humpty Dumpty).
