Environment: GRASS 4.0 on a Sun SPARC with sunos4.1.1

I am very puzzled about the color assignments from i.maxlik. Here is
an example of i.maxlik run on the output of i.cluster using channels
1,2,and 4 of AVHRR data.
ch.1 = blue
ch.2 = green
ch.4 = red

the colr/124.maxlik file looks like this:
% 1 14
0:0
1:69:120:97
2:49:1:168
3:86:0:156
4:103:1:112
5:110:1:59
6:144:3:36
7:173:4:69
8:173:4:20
9:194:5:8
10:240:7:6
11:222:6:21
12:209:5:56
13:200:5:95
14:147:3:112

Notice that the channel 2 (green) cluster means are very close to the
channel 1 (blue) means.
HOWEVER, the green entries of the colortable are TOTALLY different
from the blue entries.

I have tried various other combinations with similar results: green is
ALWAYS messed up.

Any clues anyone?
