Ecological simulations in GRASS

We have a new post-Doc here at the Climatic Impacts Centre,`
Macquarie University with a background in climatic impacts
on agriculture.  She would very much like to start modelling
pest populations growth/movement under differing climatic
conditions.  Has anybody written any such ecological software
that might work with/within GRASS?  She's not a programmer,but
there are enough of us around that we can get her going on
just about anything.
