Digital Chart of the World

Has anybody had experience using the Digital Chart of the World, from 
the Defense Mapping Agency? In particular, is there a way to import 
their special VPF format into GRASS, or to convert it into a format 
which GRASS can read? Is anybody working on this problem? I'd appreciate
any information on the subject. Thanks --
