Problem with v.in.arc

I understand the reasons for having the v.in.arc command, but I've
always made arc coverages into DLG files for import into GRASS. The
advantage this has over v.in.arc is the ability to move attributes as 
well as lines, points, etc. Maybe I'm missing something with the v.in.arc 
command, and maybe someone else can shed some light on the subject.
What do people do when the v.in.arc command works ?? Do they then go in
and relabel everything ??
