d.colors

I believe d.colors is behaving strangely (or I am not seeing something)

After changing the colormode to float; I go in and alter the color table and get my image looking the way the way I want it to be.... after saving and quitting I then d.rast my image and instead of the colors I have just created there is 
something different on the screen!

When I examine the colortable (by reintering d.colors) not only have the 
% colors changed but for example,class 1 and 2 are identical as are class 13 and 14 . I did not examine the entire colortable but this is not the way to run a 
railroad.
Am I missing something?
