nodes in vector output from p.map

I've been using p.map to produce postscript output of a vector
map patched together from USGS DLG hydrography coverages
(ppmtopgm paint.ppm|pgmtops>outfile).
The problem is that stream origins and terminations are
marked by rather prominent nodes on the output, producing a
busy-looking map. Is there any way to suppress these on the output?

Thanks in advance,

bjr
