where do I put .dbx files?

GRASS GISers:
  I am a very new GRASS user.  The first thing I am trying to do is to
run v.in.dxf on many small files exported to .dbx format from the 
ROOTS digitizing program.  Where should the .dbx files be and what should
I specify as my mapset and location?  Sorry for the very basic question,
but I haven't found the answer yet in the manual and I need a leg-up.
