Hatching/patterning programs

Hello,

    sorry if this is a FAQ. Do anyone has experience in transforming colors
in GRASS output maps into clear and simple hatch patterns suitable for BW
printing and publishing? I am interested in any technique, even if it
involves exporting to Macs or PCs.
