help with d.mon problem?

  Hello:  I've recently compiled 4.1 on a Sparc2 running 4.1.3. When I
  try to start the graphics monitor with the d.mon command, I get:
       X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
         Major opcode of failed request: 78 (X_CreateColormap)
         Serial number of failed request: 265
         Current serial number output stream: 266

 Any suggestions appreciated.
