Distance measurement

The r.le.dist program in the r.le program package on the ftp server
in the "grass/incoming" directory (file is rle.tar.Z) can calculate
nearest neighbor distance from polygon to polygon in several ways.
However, at the moment it only outputs the mean value for several
polygons, not individual measurements.  The program could be modified
to output the individual measurements fairly easily.  I plan to do this
for the next version.
