Problem installing grass4.1

We have a Sun630 MP server working with SunOS 4.1.
When we are unpacking files with
	cat binary* | zcat | (cd destination; cpio -icdmv )
it stops at
	sun4static/driver/CELL
	with the following error message:

	cpio: cannot unlink current <>:invalid argument
	cpio: cannot create <>: is a directory
	cpio: cannot read input: is a directory

Can anyone help us?
