r.le on linux - help needed

There apparently is a significant bug in the r.le programs that
prevents their use on systems running the Linux operating system.
Since I do not have access to Linux, I wonder if someone with Linux
might be willing to download the r.le source code, try to compile
it and send me any warning or error messages during the compilation.
That part would not be very time-consuming, but would help greatly.

More time-consuming would be to compile the r.le programs, then run
them on a map, where they apparently core dump if the map is at all
large. The most useful information for me would be the standard
output from a debugger, which might tell me which line in the code
is causing the problem. If you have access to a debugger on Linux
and could help, I would be very appreciative. Please respond
directly to me.
