Hello Eric,

you may want to try the literature on forest-fire smoke modelling, I
dont have a specific name to give you but it is not a "huge" field
and you shuld be able to see if there is anything useful after a 
quick search.

The project sounds interesting (?sp). could you please let me know how 
its going. thank you
