Systems Short Courses offered by the Cook College, Rutgers University Office
of Continuing Professional Education:

An Overview of GIS:  A One-Day Seminar - April 21, 1995
Instructor:  Professor Scott Madry

This one-day seminar is designed to provide an introduction to the general
principles and applications of GIS and is rcommended for those who have just
purchased or are considering purchasing a GIS.

Introduction to GIS:  Principles an Applications - April 25 - 28, 1995
Instructor:  Professor Scott Madry

This four-day lecture and demonstration course is designed to provide an
introduction to GIS including hardware and software components of GIS; GIS data
types, formats and sources; GIS database develpment; and, choosing the
appropriate GIS.

Introduction to ArcView 2 - May 15, 1995
Instructor:  Professor Lyna Wiggins
Fee:  $175; Multiple discount:  $125
This one-day course will focus on GIS concepts an applications through a series
of hands-on exercises using ArcView and applications created using ARC/INFO.

Introduction to ARC/INFO - May 16-19, 1995
Instructor:  Andrew Rowan
Fee:  $715; Multiple discount:  $665
This four-day "hands-on" course is designed to create, edit, and query ARC/INFO
data bases; perform rudimentary analyses; and create and plot maps.

Introduction to GRASS 4.1 GIS - May 22 - 26, 1995
Instructor:  Professor Scott Madry

This five-day "hands-on" course is designed to provide principles and
applications of GIS as well as provide a specific introduction to GRASS.
Advanced Applications in GRASS 4.1 GIS - August 21 - 25, 1995
Instructor:  Professor Scott Madry
Fee:  $875; Multiple discount:  $825
This five-day course will explore, through extensive "hands-on" work, advanced
problem-solving techniques using the GRASS GIS package.

Advanced Applications in ARC/INFO - August 7 - 9, 1995
Instructor:  Professor Lyna Wiggins and Andrew Rowan
Fee:  $545; Multiple discount:  $495
This three-day course will focus on customization of applications by programmin
g
in ARC/INFO's Advanced Macro Language (AML) and provide exercises in other
advanced applications, including 3-dimensional analysis, address matching and
network analysis.

GIS in Transportation - August 10 - 11, 1995
Instructor:  Professor Lyna Wiggins
Fee:  $380; Multiple discount:  $330
This two-day course focuses on transportation applications using Mapinfo,
Transcad, and ARC/INFO.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Registrants may withdraw from the course with a full refund less a $25.00
processing fee provided the Office of Continuing Professional Education is
notified at least seventy-two hours prior to the start of the curse.  Beyond th
at time, registrants may be responsible for the full registration fee if they
register but do not attend.  Substitutions are permitted.
