Not sure quite what you mean by time-series modelling, but we've been working
with a temporal model of natural disturbances for several years. The
model is documented in a series of papers (Ecol. Mod. 56:109, Ecology 73:1879,
Oikos 66:66, Cons. Biol. 8:763). The model was written using SIMSCRIPT II.5
simulation language, with a link to GRASS. The model uses GRASS for
algabraic manipulation of map layers, spreading disturbances (e.g., fires),
and for display of model results. It works with an annual time step, and
simulates disturbances over a few hundred years. We wrote the r.le programs
to analyze landscape pattern periodically as the model runs.
