I never had any problems doing a conversion from a IDRISI raster image to 
GRASS. You have to be sure that your MAPSET has the right coordinate region. 
If not, the file would be imported, but you couldn't display it on your 
graphics monitor. Try to assign the right coordinate region with the 
g.region command: g.region rast=<idris_image> and d.erase. If you can 
display your IDRISI image after this procedure, the only problem was the 
wrong region settings.
