You can forget gettydefs - it only is read by getty when  trying to login a
user.  You should make sure that there is no process trying to
run a login - or you won't be able to connect your digitizer.

About the other stuff - it's digitizer dependent.  Good luck, make chure you
chmod the port to permission 666!
