Grass 4.1/SunOS 4.1.3 colour flashing

I downloaded the binaries for running Grass 4.1 on SunOS 4.1.3. It runs
OK but I get colour flashing when I open a graphics monitor using d.mon
and either of x0, x1, x2 etc. I could understand this if I had Mosaic or
xv or some similar process running but this is not the case.

If you use Suns with SunOS 4.1.3 and have faced this problem please could
you tell me what I can do to solve it.
