Compiling Xgrass on Linux

I've been trying to compile Xgrass, but have run into trouble.  My local 
Linux gurus have told me that the error message reported by make indicate 
that the problem is with Motif (or more precisely, the lack thereof).  Has 
anyone compiled Xgrass for a Linux box (kernal 1.1.54)?  There are 
compiled binaries for Linux of Grass4.1 at Cecer, but they lack Xgrass.  
I could probably live without Xgrass, but having read the manuals, think 
that it would sure make my life a whole lot easier.  Any suggestions?

If no one can help me on this, perhaps they can compile Xgrass in the 
next update of the binary.
