Error starting graphic monitor

Check the directory $GISBASE/locks/name_of_your_workstation
If a file similar to the following exists:

-rw-rw-rw-   1 baxter   sys           12 Aug 28 14:08 mon.20852

Try removing it. Also make sure that under $GISBASE/dev that the
pipe for x_whatever does not have any bytes in it. If it does
simply remove it and recreate it with mknod <name> p
