ATTENTION GRASS SPECIALISTS -- EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Regional Science Institute (RSI), Sapporo, Japan is undertaking an
expanded role of its GIS section by implementing GRASS technologies in the
Japanese GIS environment. It is being supported in this by a software
development grant. To this end the Institute will seek a qualified individual
to work in GIS and GRASS development in its Sapporo office.
A qualified candidate must have at least several years experience
in GIS development, applications, and training, including experience with
the GRASS system. Training on version 5.0 will be provided. The individual
should also possess graduate education in a field relevant to the engineering,
geographic, biologic or relevant sciences.
Period of employment shall be for one year minimum with longer term
for the successful candidate. Salary and benefits will insure quality of
life equivalent to the U.S. working and living environment.
RSI supports an international and Japanese staff of over 40 persons
in Regional Planning, Environmental Assessment, Transportation and Urban
Planning, Regional Policy and research and development sections. It occupies
new facilities with 5 Unix and dozens of PC and MacIntosh platforms and
peripherals. It is an Internet provider for northern Japan and participant in
Open Geographic Information Systems.
