convert line pts.to nodes

Is there a way to convert individual line points to nodes without using
line definition?

I am trying to edit a basin vector file I imported from another application
which has the nodes at the basin outlet. All basin areas are independent and
are not connected together by nodes at intersections of the basins, but basin
area lines that border have the same exact location for the points on each line
.
In other words the part of the basin area lines exactly overlay a bordering
basin. If I deleted a particular basin area, it would not affect the bordering
basin area lines. I am adding new basins and splitting up some basins into
subbasins to the file and need to retain the the same exact location of existin
g
basin area line points, and at the same time eliminate the overlapping of lines
.
I used v.spag to try to create nodes at line intersections, but it created
nodes at every point on the line and also created extra lines and nodes.
I am using lat/long for the coordinate system.

I would like to convert the points on the line at the basin intersections
to nodes and then delete the duplicate lines using v.spag and get rid of the
node at the basin outlet using v.trim.
