Hi,
  You can use the r.colors command to assign a different color table. For your
background color after running r.colors, vi your $LOCATION/colr/"filename"
and change the rgb values for category 0.

Change like the following:

% 2 286
%%
0:255           #This is white, 0:0 would be black, i.e. 0:0:0:0
1:117:140:85
2:88:155:184
3:166:190:80
