Hello John,
In addition to what David wrote, GRASS is now available as GRASSLANDS from
L.A.S. of Montreal. This software runs on Windows 95/NT and has recently been
released for sale at $850. You can contact Raymond Rivest (rr at las.com). They
also have some web info at http://www.cecer.army.mil/grass/LAS/ .
Also, you can contact Dr. James Hinthorne (jimh at cwu.edu) of Central Washingto
n
Univ. He has been involved with a port of GRASS 4.1.5 to Machten Unix for Macs
& Power Macs.
Finally, as David said, if you want to go the route of Linux, you can obtain
several binaries of GRASS. I have linux and compiled GRASS on my machine.
There are some bugs to work out when compiling, but it's a good system, I think
.
