World Data Base II

Hello,

I would be interested to know if any GRASS users have successfully 
converted World Data Base II (WDBII) vector data (the .cbd format files 
from the tar files available at ftp://sepftp.stanford.edu/pub/World_Map)
into a GRASS vector format. 

Any suggestions as to how this may be done would be greatly appreciated.
