Importing MOS image file

Hello all

I have an MOS satellite image file (around 160 Meg) that I would like to import
to GRASS4.1. I was wondering if I can use the i.tape.other command even though
the data is in a file and not on tape. I'm assumming here that since UNIX
treats a tape device as a file then the i.tape.other command may be able to
read from a file directly. Or should I try to obtain the image in ERDAS format
and use the i.in.erdas command?

Any help, especially with using the i.tape.other command with an MOS file would
be greatly appreciated.
