Search for xgdispplay binary for 8bit SGI

Hello!

I have downloaded the binary distribution of GRASS4.1 for SGI.
Unfortunately, I have only a 8bit graphics. Starting xgdisplay 
results in an error message, indicating, that I have not
enough colors available. Since I can't afford a 24bit graphic 
I hope, that you perhaps can help me.
Is there a xgdisplay version available for 8bit color on SGI or
can I force my machine to start it on 8bit?
