write error in swap file

Hi ,

I got a serious problem when using m.dem.extract. My PC get stuck and as a
user I don't have anymore swap space. Every time I need to open a file I get:

write error in swap file
"file" 0 lines, 0 characters
Press return................

I don't have anymore an X environment. I can't execute grass. Well, a
completely disaster.

Any sugestions?
