Printing

When I completed my migration to linux I replaced my color ink jet printer
(a Canon BJC-4550) which is not supported in linux with a H-P DeskJet 2500C
which is supposed to be fully supported. The problem, of course, is that HP
hasn't written drivers for this printer for those of us who use linux.

My primary need for this printer -- especially in the 11"x17" paper size
-- is to print maps from GRASS. I've downloaded a copy of magicfilter, but I
cannot find any docs for it. I would really like to configure GRASS and
linux to take advantage of the high resolution (600x600 dpi) and multiple
paper types which this printer offers.

Can someone provide me with pointers to setting up printers under GRASS
and some information for setting up magicfilter (or another tool) to support
the HP?

TIA,

Rich
