Hi Henk,
you need a preceding "#" character for the z-value.
To overcome the problem easily do following:
* In GRASS 4.2.1 use
s.in.ascii.dem instead of s.in.ascii
* In GRASS 5 use
s.in.ascii -e
This will add the required characters.
