r.cost question

Howdy. For me, r.cost will not work. This is not new, as 27 Aug 1999
I sent a message to this list, "r.cost for dummies," wondering about it.
There was no response at that time.

Which is to say that when I follow the nice Seeds tutorial on cost
surfaces, the step where the "cost_dist" is produced will instead yield
a blank "no data" frame. This also will happen with other, "real"
projects. The verbose option gives:

GRASS:~/grass > r.cost -vk input=cost output=cost_dist coord=445775,310875
Creating some temporary files ...
Reading cost ... 100%
Initializing output 100%
Finding cost path
Writing cost_dist ... 100%

This will BTW also produce a blank field without the -k option. Providing
also a stopping coord does not cure the illness. The cost_dist layer is
empty.

Any ideas?

Adios,
Chris
