[GRASSLIST:2553] grass vector functions

I am currently working on a project and we are comparing ESRI and GRASS.
Although we have a lot of raster analysis to do, we all have to do some
vector analysis, such as networks and topology.  Can anyone help me with
some information about GRASS' vector analysis functionality? Any
additional information regarding GRASS vs. ESRI Arc/GIS would of course be
welcome as well.
