[GRASSLIST:4275] "Draping" vectors on raster maps

Hi all
I'm trying to do something in grass I haven't had to before - taking a 
vector map (a vehicle's route incidentally) and draping it over the 
topography of the area to show more visually where the vehicle 
travelled.  What would I use to do this?
Also, what is the command to make animations along a path 
again?
