[GRASSLIST:3101] attributes, fields and categories.

Hello,

I'm a newbie and still perplex with how GRASS manages
vector files attributes.
How, for example, having for each line of a line
vector layer two or more attributes?
virtual E.g.
        ID  viability  date of construction
line1   RN1    good          1997
line2   RN2    good          1998
line3   A4     bad           2000

Is it necessary to use PostGreSQL to get this trhough
joins between external tables?

Thus, 'v.in.shape' does not stores any ESRI fields but
category LABEL and ATTRIBUTE. Is it normal?
How to get all fields?

Can We write more than two fields in dig_cats?

Sorry for these elementary questions but i'm perplex.
