[GRASSLIST:3181] Set $GISDBASE without running GRASS ?

Dear All,

I made a mistake while GRASS was processing : I've killed the X server.
Now, when restarting GRASS, the init.sh script has no value for the
$GISDBASE variable (parameter null or not set).

I was wondering if it was possible to set the directory containing the
geographic locations for $GISDBASE without GRASS (which can not be
started) ?

Or is there another means to resolve this problem ?
