[GRASSLIST:2993] Installation of grass binaries in local dir

Hi,
I'm a new user of grass (pc-linux 7.2), and have a
little problem to install the binaries.
The set up in /home/grass runs ("Installing Grass
binaries in /home/grass") 
but suddenly breaks when copying last files in
/usr/local/bin because i have not the 'root'
permissions. My System administrator
tells me to install the whole in the local dir., but
can't say how.
How can i manage?
