If you haven't come right yet, you can install pre4 via urpmi from my site:

http://ranger.dnsalias.com/mandrake

find RPMs at:
http://ranger.dnsalias.com/mandrake/mandrake8.2/grass

Pre3 is currently in cooker (I need to clean pre4 up a bit before it
goes in), 5.0.0 final should be in Mandrake 9.0 contribs.
