[GRASSLIST:4794] r.in.tiff generates empty map

I am trying to import a tiff image (rbg, geotiff) and r.in.tiff always 
runs without error, but generates three null raster map ( print white 
with d.display ). Is the tiff in unsupported format, or is it an bug in 
r.in.tiff?
