[GRASSLIST:4834] grass file?

I've got a couple of computers that I have grass projects on and I would
like to be able to transfer a grass "file" from one machine to another
without exporting the fle to an ascii file (or something equivalent). Is
there a native grass file format that can be simply copied from one machine
to another?
