[GRASSLIST:4423] line vector category

People,

I just don't get how vector lines are working. I'd like to v.to.rast a
single line vector file that I digitized on screen with v.digit (I don't
have a 3 button mouse on the laptop to follow the normal "clicking" way).
I know that it needs an attribute so that v.to.rast works
but I just don't understand how to do this.

v.support doesn't seem to produce any effect. At the moment I don't know
what the category of the line is and don't seem to be able to alter it in
any way.

Any hint?
